06/17: Photo Idea

I just dugg this panorama of Paris and got an idea - hows about a panorama that gradually goes from day to night and back as you turn the circle. Mmm, i must try this...

05/06:

60 FPS = Humiliation

04/30: So what's the deal with...

...those huge packages of celery. Celery goes bad in, oh, about 20 minutes. If you eat that much celery, you will become fiber. You will be fibropomorphic.

They should cel sellery by the rib. You cut it up, you put it in your soup. Done. That way you wouldn't have to go to community theater just to use up your produce.

09/08: Gallery 2

For those who care, i've been using Gallery for the photo section of the site from the beginning. Well, Gallery 2 is finally on the verge of a final release, so i've installed the latest release candidate (about the third time i've installed a beta version). I'm trying to figure out the best way to integrate it into Nucleus (the CMS I use) but until then, check er out here.

As a side note, Gallery 2 is an absolute gem of a project. It's the cleanest web app i've ever used. The installer is about as close to perfect as I can imagine. The design and code seem rock solid too, and I intend to study it for my CMS endeavors at work. Web developers, check it out.

08/23: "Feminism"

That word has so many meanings that flat out contradict each other that it is useless as a word. I once labelled myself a feminist. If I did so now, to me, it would mean as much as saying "I'm organic" and leaving it at that. The list of prefixes is more than a page, and I have no idea if I agree with any of them. I'm pretty sure I agree with all of them on some points, even the radical stuff. (Note that Andrea Dworkin, one of the most known names in feminism died in April without so much as a peep from the media. I don't know why you should note it, just note it, damn it.).

I certainly don't think it's sufficient to say that Feminism = Gender Equality. That's exactly what I thought when I raised my hand in sociology when some guests asked who was a feminist, since it's what I was told so many times by so many sources. But even if I were sure that gender equality was the essence of Feminism -- and further more had a specific definition of what gender equality was... ugh -- I couldn't know that others feel the same. It's just that the people whose opinions I care about (come again?) can only use their definition of a label to figure out how it applies to me. Unless they read my blog which clearly does not happen.

It's the same with all labels, and that's why I must pepper my words with humor when I ask "Are you a..." questions. It's just so inherently pointless, and I think everyone knows it. Which begs the question...

08/02: Review: Sufjan Stephens - Illinoise

9

Edit: a must listen, but let's make that 8.

08/02: Please comment

I write this blog because I like to think that people might care what i think. So if you read, please let me know and leave a comment.

I will be as belligerent and stupid as possible to encourage you to correct me. So, a theory:

Asians have flat asses because they sleep on the floor.

Thoughts?

08/02: Intelligent Design

Bush endorsed it today. It cannot be tested and is not a scientific theory. It doesn't belong in a science class. Of this I have no doubt.

Now, whether it belongs in any public classroom is another question. If it's a question of constitutionality, no. If it's a question of reasonableness, sure, in a philosopy course. I wish i had a philosophy course in high school. Well, I did - Governor's School - but thats a really jank way to go about it. I think that in all people are a bit too afraid of kids thinking for themselves. I sympathize, but I don't think that just because you turn 18 and choose to go to College that you are intrinsically better capable of it. It's just that no one can stop you. Kids have choices in High School too - at least they should. Lets not take them away.

Freedom from AND freedom to.

Then again, maybe not... :)

08/02: Firefox

By the way, if you haven't installed Firefox, give er a try. And look at the Extensions (which is, to me, the point of the thing)
